Joseph Simmons is more commonly known by his stage name, Rev Run. He is one of the three founders of the influential rap group Run D.M.C. Rev Run was born and raised in Queens, New York like most early hip-hop artists. Run D.M.C. includes two other famous artists known as DMC and Jam Master Jay. Their group is one of the most known hip-hop groups and is commonly associated with pioneering the hip-hop industry. Even if their music has a little more of an old school taste, I enjoy listening to it. Run D.M.C. is widely known by their hit "Walk This Way" which samples the original song by Aerosmith.What's interesting about Rev Run is during his music career he was also ordained as a minister. Thus his stage name being Rev Run, meaning Reverend Run. Rev Run also has his own hit T.V. show, called Run's house, being featured on MTV. He is currently married to Justine Simmons and has six children. Three of them being with his first wife Valerie and the other half being with his current. Run's children plan to carry on the Rev Run legacy and currently have their own albums, clothing lines, and shoe lines out.
So if you're looking for more of a old school type of hip-hop try listening to a Run D.M.C. album.

Your blog shows that you have really dived in and studied information behind these artists. You not only talked about their career and accomplishments, but talked about their life before becoming famous as well. I agree with some of your thoughts that you conclude about the Video Music Awards. The performances on the show were amazing and I had a great time watching the various types of bands/artists perform also. When I first encountered your blog I was unsure of why it was called Subterraneo, but after reading your first blog I thought it was quite interesting. It was very original for you to tie in a word from Spanish with the type of music you enjoy listening to. As a dancer, I was really able to relate to your blog about hip-hop. I say this because I encounter hip-hop music often, and I have friends who rap and dance. I agree that many people do claim they enjoy to listen to hip-hop, but they do not truly know the background of hip-hop and where it came from.
